Kelly Johnston  Pastoral Assistant

As a pastor’s kid, I moved around MO every 5-6 years so I proudly call St. Louis, Cape Girardeau and Kansas City my hometowns.

During college, I worked at Camp Galilee, a United Methodist Church Camp. This job is where I learned to work hard, be a leader and also how to remove snakes from various cabin crevices.  I attended college at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, earning a Bachelors Degree in Nonprofit Administration. After graduating, I moved back to Kansas City, married my husband, Doug and started working as a Children and Youth Minister. Through this job, I reaffirmed my love for church ministry and working with families. I went back to school and received my teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education. For the past 4 years, I have worked as a preschool teacher at a church in Kansas City.

Personal Memory

When I was 5 years old, my parents loaded my brother and myself in our minivan and drove down to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Vacations in our family were a rare occurrence, so this trip was a big deal. I remember swimming in the ocean for the first time and running from crabs and jellyfish. We fed seagulls, ate chips right out of the bag and laughed a lot. It was the perfect vacation.
